Seed Quality and Seedling Vigor in Peanut affected by Tomato Spotted Wilt Virus

چکیده

Germination and vigor are physiological components of seed quality that contribute to a successful plant emergence under wide range environmental conditions. Many biotic abiotic factors can affect quality. Tomato spotted wilt virus (TSWV) causes one the most relevant problems in peanut (Arachis hypogaea L.), tomato disease (TSW). Although TSW is not transmitted by seed, presence symptoms on coat may impact there lack information effect this Therefore, objective study was evaluate genotypes. Seeds from five genotypes were separated into two symptomology groups, asymptomatic symptomatic for TSW. tests performed seeds seedlings. normal seedling development affected Radicle length weight mainly impacted genotype, with little Vigor differences likely more related given genotype innate susceptibility during formation than actual coat. Overall, did genotypes, except TSWV susceptible cultivar ‘SunOleic 97R’.

Tomato spotted wilt virus.

Growers in Georgia first noted problems in their peppers and onions during the last week of March 1989. Thrips populations combined with further field symptoms and the verification of the disease triggered a massive insecticide spray program in Georgia. Monitor was first used in early May followed by combinations of Orthene, Cygon and Thiodan. Most fields had less than 1% infection prompting a ...

Epidemiology and management of tomato spotted wilt in peanut.

Tomato spotted wilt caused by thrips-vectored tomato spotted wilt virus (TSWV) is a very serious problem in peanut (Arachis hypogaea L.) production. TSWV and the thrips Frankliniella fusca and Frankliniella occidentalis, which vector the virus, present a difficult and complicated challenge from the perspectives of both epidemiology and disease management. Simply controlling the vector typically...

Tomato Spotted Wilt Virus on Peanuts

I the last decade, tomato spotted wilt virus (TSWV) has become widely distributed across Alabama on many field, vegetable, and floral crops. About 300 plant species, mainly broadleafs, are hosts of TSWV. In addition to peanut, other important crops grown in the Southeast that are susceptible to this virus include tomato, pepper, potato, cucurbits, lettuce, eggplant, and tobacco. Chrysanthemum, ...

Population genetic analysis of Tomato spotted wilt virus on peanut in North Carolina and Virginia.

Exploring the genetic diversity and evolutionary history of plant viruses is critical to understanding their ecology and epidemiology. In this study, maximum-likelihood and population genetics-based methods were used to investigate the population structure, genetic diversity, and sources of genetic variation in field isolates of Tomato spotted wilt virus (TSWV) from peanut in North Carolina and...
